David Davidson is stepping in on Monday as the interim executive director of Gateway Economic Development Corporation, filling
the shoes of Lynn Robson until a permanent director is found.

In the meantime, members of Gateway’s board of directors are sorting through more than 25 applications, all from local residents.
Davidson is not one of the candidates for the permanent position.

“We’ve had some great resumes sent in,” said Joseph Bower, president of the board. “We are now narrowing that down to a short
list.”

His goal is to choose a new director by June 1.
Until then, Davidson will manage Gateway’s operations as a nonprofit lending organization.
He is a former deputy district director for the U.S. Small Business Administration. After retiring from that position in 1997, Davidson
worked within the Montana Department of Commerce overseeing the Small Business Development Center Program and the
MicroBusiness Finance Program.

This experience and his short-term availability were reasons Gateway’s board selected Davidson, according to Bower, who is also
president of U.S. Bank in Helena.
Davidson said his goal is to ensure Gateway continues to provide the best service.
Robson stepped down from the position on Friday to pursue retirement; but, she said will still continue to help the organization
when needed.
