Idaho Power told to expand energy education in schools

State regulators directed Idaho Power Co. to expand two of its education programs last week, using money from the 2008 sale of sulfur dioxide emission credits, to teach kids about efficiency.

In a decision signed Friday, the Public Utilities Commission largely endorsed a proposal from the utility about how to use $500,000 for energy-education projects at schools across its service territory. The idea was first suggested more than a year ago by the Idaho Energy Education Project, whose coordinator, Bill Chisholm, is from Buhl.
