Rocky Mountain Laboratories biologist, Patti Rosa national mentor of the year

Federal laboratories are serious places, bustling with researchers exploring the outer reaches of human understanding and publishing papers that delineate important scientific territory.

And that is why senior Rocky Mountain Laboratories researcher Patti Rosa, recently honored as a National Institutes of Heath mentor of the year, has her post-doctoral staff ready to put their scientific hypotheses to the test with some friendly betting.

What does betting have to do with an ongoing genetic investigation of Borrelia burgdorferi, the bacteria responsible for the tick-transmitted Lyme disease?

It’s about doing good science, say the post-doctoral fellows who call Rosa their mentor.
