Hands-on science paying off for grades K-5 in Billings, Montana

Venton Arce, a fourth-grader at St. Francis Intermediate School, said the best thing about the scientific method is that she gets to figure out on her own how things work. That attitude is one that has come to play a major role in science education within the Billings Catholic Schools http://www.billingscatholicschools.org/ system over the past two years.

At the start of the 2007-08 school year, St. Francis Primary and Intermediate – serving grades K-5 – switched to a more interactive curriculum that focuses on experiments and in-the-field experience, rather than bookwork and memorization.
