Women advised to pursue tech careers

"At the end of the day, computer science is critical thinking," Tetro told the group. "You don’t have to be a developer and be nerdy to be successful in technology. If you’re excited about technology, or even have a glimmer of interest in that, embrace it."

Cydni Tetro wears black high heels and a tailored suit, not a pocket protector and large-rimmed glasses taped in the middle.

She shuns the thought of spending 16 hours a day cramped in a cubicle programming computers, but loves jumping online to check out her Twitter and Facebook accounts.

Tetro is the chief marketing officer at NextPage, the director of the Utah-based nonprofit Women Tech Council and an MBA and computer-science graduate who loves breaking the stereotype that technology jobs are just for men.
