Thanks to Sen. Baucus, Montana officials happily help GE open $7M center in Billings

"A lot came out of the 2007 economic-development summit in Butte, and this operations center is one of them," Sen.Baucus http://baucus.senate.gov/ said. "They looked very aggressively and thoroughly at the major Montana communities. My main job was just to get GE to Montana."

Nearly two years of planning and building came to a close Friday afternoon as General Electric http://www.ge.com/ unveiled its new operations center in Billings.

The $7 million, 48,000-square-foot center, called the General Electric Montana Center of Excellence, is a branch of GE Capital, the company’s financial-services division, and will monitor collateral on commercial loans and leases. About 100 employees have been hired, and GE Capital plans to hire another 50 to 100 later this year.
