Celebrate the power of service on Martin Luther King Day

Sparked by the historic outcome of the 2008 presidential election and by President-elect Barack Obama’s clarion call for Americans to serve their communities, people across the country will transform themselves into a record number of volunteers on the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday this Monday.

This federal holiday has long been touted as a "day on" rather than a "day off," as advocates urge people to utilize their time away from work to engage with their neighbors, improve their communities, help those in need, and serve their country.

Tens of thousands of projects are planned across the country. Here in our state, Montana Campus Compact has information to help you find local and statewide projects at http://www.mtcompact.org.
