Free Safety Workshops offered by Montana State Fund

A safe working environment contributes to a company’s overall success and
the well being of employees. One of the key factors that can help control
rising insurance costs is an investment in workplace safety. During April
and May, Montana State Fund (MSF) will be offering four different safety
workshops at six locations around the state. The workshops are offered free
of charge, and are open to any employer in the state.

"By attending these workshops, employers can learn to minimize their
exposure and costs, while creating a positive working environment for their
employees" said Steve Halferty, MSF Safety Management Specialist. "Business
owners, managers, and staff involved with safety management are strongly
encouraged to attend".

The workshops are divided into two sessions. Participants can choose to
attend one or both of the sessions. The topics include:

Workshop Schedule #1
Safety Pays – Learn about the things you can do to impact the safety and
profitability of your company, from hiring practices to creating a culture
of safety among your employees.
OSHA Record-keeping – Become familiar with OSHA’s most recent rules and
requirements for record keeping.

Workshop Schedule #2
Office Ergonomics – Repetitive motion and soft tissue injuries are the
leading cause of injury in the nation. This workshop will discuss office
ergonomics, risk factors and prevention techniques. It will teach attendees
the basics about making proper adjustments in office environments.
Safe Lifting/Back Safety – Thirty-four percent of injuries in Montana occur
from lifting objects. This workshop will discuss exposures to back injury,
risk factors, proper lifting techniques, and techniques to help prevent one
of the leading causes of injuries for Montana employers.

Space is limited so early registration is encouraged. For detailed
