Regents’ Bitterroot decision doesn’t end dream

The Montana Board of Regents http://www.mus.edu/board/BORinfo.asp may have rejected the idea of opening a community college in the Bitterroot earlier this month, but that hasn’t stopped Bitterrooters from forging ahead with plans for one.

And who can blame them? With a majority of Ravalli County voters behind the idea, residents have long fought to improve their community by improving its higher education opportunities. They are right to keep beating the drum for courses and classes of value to the their community.

Even now, a group of Bitterroot Valley Community College http://www.bvcc-edu.org/supporters is planning to present its argument to the Montana Legislature, but without support from the Board of Regents, the plea is a long shot. The regents have, however, expressed support for working with Bitterroot Valley residents to create some other option. Residents are not yet convinced they will see results any time soon.
