Lima, Montana Celebrates Success of Partnership with MEDA Resource Team

During a recent return visit, members of the Lima Resource Team joined with community members to celebrate nearly four years of successes. In its original 2004 visit, the Lima Resource Team helped the community to identify a number of goals and objectives http://www.medamembers.org/Lima%20Report.pdf . Included among these were the acquisition of a cell tower serving the area, development of DSL access for the community, the clean up the community park and beautification of Lima http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lima_Montana .

Community members have worked tirelessly since the initial Resource Team visit and were able to celebrate the completion of all four of these original goals. Lima now has a cell phone tower, DSL access, a community park they can be proud of, and continuing community clean up and beautification efforts.

The original Lima Resource Team consisted of Dr. Tony Rudbach (University of Montana – Missoula), Chad Lee (Montana Department of Agriculture), Katie Bump (Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest), Terry Dimock (Montana Department of Commerce) and Gloria O’Rourke, MEDA. The Resource Team was provided by Montana Economic Developers Association working in cooperation with Headwaters RC&D and the Montana Department of Commerce and was sponsored by several local business people who provided housing and meals. Mike Strang, Beaverhead Development Corporation served as the Champion for the entire project.

Moving forward, Lima continues to explore the possible development of additional housing, an elder care facility, and a rest area to be developed along I-15.
