3 Rivers buys Blackfoot dial-up customers

An estimated 80 Choteau and Conrad customers of Missoula-based Blackfoot Communications’ dial-up Internet service received notices last week that their accounts were sold to 3 Rivers Communications, based in Fairfield.

“After careful consideration we have concluded that we will no longer provide Internet services in your area,” Connie Stevenson of Blackfoot stated in her Sept. 25 letter to the customers.

The transition affected each customer’s computer settings and both companies were helping make the changeover last week. The long-term effect is that the e-mail addresses with “montana.com” would be retired on the customer accounts and replaced with “3rivers.net.”
