Climate Solutions and the leading clean-tech research firm Clean Edge have teamed up to release an important and very timely new report, Carbon Free Prosperity 2025: How the Northwest Can Create Green Jobs, Deliver Energy Security, and Thrive in the Global Clean-Tech Marketplace.

This new study shows that the Pacific Northwest agricultural community can play a leadership role in the region’s clean energy future.

The report focus on five key areas:

* Solar PV Manufacturing

* Wind Power Development

* Green Building Design Services

* Sustainable Bioenergy

* Smart-Grid Technologies

New wind power development is today and will continue tomorrow to bring clean energy jobs and revenues to our rural communities. The report also notes that another strong opportunity lies in developing the intellectual resources and infrastructure to make sustainable bioenergy a true regional clean technology industry. Farmers and ranchers are already beginning to grow camelina and other oilseed crops and to harness agricultural waste streams such as cow manure for energy. It’s a next-generation industry for Northwest agriculture.

Carbon-Free 2025 lays out a ten point action plan designed to help the Pacific Northwest seize global leadership in clean technology — creating jobs, reducing our dependence on foreign oil, and swiftly reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
