Largest Video Conference in Montana State Government History

In the largest video conference in state history, the State of Montana provided simultaneous training to over 580 employees in 11 Montana cities Wednesday afternoon. The use of video conferencing to eliminate travel is in response to Governor Schweitzer’s 20×10 Energy Initiative for state agencies.

State and university managers at 27 locations throughout the state attended training on "Fraud Prevention" hosted by the Governor’s Office and the Department of Administration’s Risk Management and Tort Defense Division. The training was provided to assist managers in preventing and recognizing fraudulent activities.

"This was the largest video conference in our history," said Dick Clark, the State’s Chief Information Officer. "By using our technology, we were able to provide this training without anyone being asked to travel beyond their local communities. The energy cost savings was enormous."

The success of yesterday’s conference confirmed for mangers that the technology is in place to continue to expand the use of video conferencing for meetings across the state.
