SeaCast project in Butte, Montana moving forward
| August 11, 2008 |
It’s a big step in a long process.
Butte-Silver Bow leaders are expected to open bids Aug. 20 to finalize construction of the empty steel building waiting to house SeaCast http://www.seacast.com/ .
“It’s a big step in getting this project moving toward completion,” said Kristen Rosa, director of the Port of Montana Business Development District, a tax increment financing industrial district, or TIFID, west of Butte.
Consulting firm Lost Dolphin Enterprises has completed design of the roughly 63,600-square-foot building and contractors are developing estimates on what it would cost to complete the project, Rosa said.
After awarding a contract in the weeks following the Aug. 20 bid opening, the successful contractor will have 270 days to complete the work after a notice to proceed is issued by the city-county.
