6 lots in town offered at about half-price to qualified buyers in Red Lodge, Montana
August 6, 2008 /
When he moved here eight years ago, Bryan Loewen balked at buying a house for $149,000.
Now the church pastor is kicking himself.
The same house is on the market for $300,000, and in this resort town of vacation homes and expensive short-term rentals for tourists, that’s a pretty good deal.
"Everything nice to live in is above $200,000," said Jody Ronning, chairwoman of the Red Lodge Affordable Housing Committee. "Anything below that needs a lot of work. And there is nothing in Red Lodge for under $100,000."
