Before Kate Riley came to Great Falls in July 2006 as a VISTA volunteer, she had never been out west.
Riley, who is from a small town of about 20,000 in upstate New York, thought her year as a VISTA would be a good chance to experience a part of the country with which she was unfamiliar.
"If I hated it, I’d be home in a year," Riley said.
But Riley didn’t hate it. In fact, she liked it so much that she stayed.
