Montana Department of Commerce Director to Present Over $12 Million in Grants to Economic Development Projects in Hamilton & Missoula

Montana Department of Commerce Director Anthony Preite will present more than $12 million dollars in economic development grants to projects in Hamilton and Missoula on Thursday May 1st and Friday May 2nd. The funds come from the Treasure State Endowment Program and the Montana Board of Housing, and will be used for local public infrastructure and low income housing projects.

“Infrastructure and housing are cornerstones of a safe, healthy community,” said Governor Brian Schweitzer. “This funding will help move these important projects forward for thousands of people who live in Hamilton and Missoula and their surrounding communities.”

“Projects like these make our economy stronger by strengthening the very core of our communities,” said Director Preite. “I am proud to see funds from the Treasure State Endowment Program and the Montana Board of Housing creating productive change in these deserving communities.”

Thursday, May 1st

1:00 p.m. @ Stonegate Mountain View Apartments, 460 Stonegate Drive, Hamilton

Director Preite will present Summit Housing Group of Missoula with $5,812,500 in affordable housing tax credits from the Montana Board of Housing. The credits will be used to construct the Mountain View III Apartments. The project will create 46 units of affordable housing.

1:30 p.m. @ Hamilton City Hall, 223 S 2nd Street, Hamilton

Director Preite will present Hamilton City officials with $750,000 in funds from the Treasure State Endowment Program. The funds will be used to make significant improvements to the City’s wastewater treatment system.

Friday, May 2nd

10:00 a.m. @ MonTEC conference room, 1121 E. Broadway, Suite 100, Missoula

Director Preite will present the Missoula Housing Authority with $4,740,710 in affordable housing tax credits from the Montana Board of Housing. The credits will be used to begin construction on Phase I of the Garden District’s, 37 unit, affordable housing complex, located on Russell Street at the old Intermountain Lumber Company site.

Director Preite will present the Goodan-Keil County Water District with $532,250 in funds from the Treasure State Endowment Program. The funds will be used to improve the Goodan-Keil water system, which serves 81 homes in the Goodan-Keil subdivision.

Director Preite will present the Elk Meadows Ranchettes County Water District with $410,000 in funds from the Treasure State Endowment Program. The funds will be used to improve the water system, which serves approximately 65 homes in the Elk Meadows Ranchettes subdivision.
