New program helps E. Idaho students excel

The MDT Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Program encourages and supports the participation of companies owned and controlled by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals in transportation contracts.

Jaron Leavitt missed two months of school last year. This year, he’s missed two days.

Ana Blancas was so withdrawn a year ago, she couldn’t look her teachers in the eyes. This year, though, the eighth-grader is an active contributor to classroom discussions.

As a sixth-grader a year ago, Sierra Hegstrom was failing school and bullying her siblings. This year, though, her GPA is above 3.0 and she’s eager to help around the house.
