Choteau School Board decision to cancel speech took away a unique opportunity to learn

Editor's note: Dr. Steve Running's speech at Choteau High School during the school day on Jan. 10 was canceled. Running was allowed to speak to the public at the high school later that night.
Last week, some members of Choteau School Board contributed to a very unfortunate decision.
University of Montana professor Dr. Steve Running, a Noble Peace Prize winner and an expert on global warming, was scheduled to talk to Choteau High School students on Thursday, Jan. 10. His speech was titled "Do You Want To Be A Climate Scientist."
Unfortunately, the school board put enough pressure on superintendent Kevin St. John that he canceled the speech.
