Montana Career Opportunity – Chief Financial Officer – The National Center for Appropriate Technology (NCAT)

The National Center for Appropriate Technology (NCAT) http://www.ncat.org is a private non-profit organization that is mission driven to help people use sustainable technologies to reduce poverty, promote healthy communities and protect natural resources. NCAT is seeking an innovative and flexible thinker to serve as its Chief Financial Officer and as a member of its senior management team. This is a full time position located in NCAT’s headquarters office in Butte, Montana.

Chief Financial Officer

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum requirements are an equivalency of a MA/MS degree in accounting, finance, business or another appropriate field plus six to eight years of related experience or training or a BS degree in an appropriate field plus eight to ten years of related experience or training. A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license is required. The position requires extensive knowledge and experience in all accounting practices and procedures; a thorough understanding of non-governmental and government contracting and grant compliance issues; strong budgeting and fiscal planning capabilities; and effective reporting and management expertise. Additional experience in the areas of the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Federal Travel Regulations (FTR), OMB A-110 and OMB A-122, cash management, banking relationships, corporate insurance, external audits, Sarbanes Oxley, and internal controls a plus. Excellent analytical and technical abilities are required as are effective communication, organizational, supervisory and teamwork skills. Experience with the JAMIS management information system is desirable.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The primary duties of this position are to provide fiscal direction and business leadership to NCAT. This position oversees the management and direction of all functions of the Accounting Department and is responsible for ensuring the fiscal integrity of the organization. The position is responsible for meeting all federal and state tax and other business requirements. NCAT has regional offices and conducts business in several states. It also has a small for-profit subsidiary. The CFO is required to work with NCAT staff to prepare budgets for proposals and contracts with government agencies, foundations, private entities and other non-profit organizations. The CFO will provide regular financial reports and analyses to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director, and NCAT operations and program managers. The CFO will serve as staff to the Board Finance Committee and work closely with the Chair of the Committee and its members. The CFO is the supervisory manager of the accounting staff and is responsible for the Accounting Department meeting goals, objectives and deadlines. Some travel is required.
