Rural schools money left out of budget bill

Congress has once again failed to pass the “Secure Rural Schools” program or find a way to pay in full the federal equivalent of property taxes, leaving dozens of local governments with uncertain financial futures.
“We rely on it quite heavily,” said Park County Commissioner Dick Murphy said of the federal programs. “We’re always under the threat of the possibility of losing it.”
