The Montana Student Assistance Foundation (SAF) Offers Student Groups Opportunity to Raise Funds

Student Assistance Foundation (SAF) http://www.safmt.org is inviting Montana student groups to partner with it to raise funds for their activities through a state-wide car raffle, and at the same time, increase awareness of Montana College Goal Sunday.

College Goal Sunday is a free program that helps students and their families complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) — an important step on the road to obtaining postsecondary education. Montana College Goal Sunday will take place at 17 locations across the state on Sunday, Feb. 10, 2008.

Members of student groups are invited to sell raffle tickets for a new 2008 Ford Edge in their communities beginning on Oct. 15. For each $5 ticket sold, the student group receives $1 of the proceeds, with the rest of the money going to support College Goal Sunday.

As an added incentive, student groups are eligible for monthly, $50 prizes based on ticket sales, with the highest ticket seller in each category receiving a $250 bonus.

“This is an excellent opportunity for student groups to raise funds while increasing awareness of an important, state-wide program — College Goal Sunday,” said Kris MacIntyre, development officer for SAF. “Last year, student groups raised about $4,000 for their efforts.”

Ticket sales will run through Feb. 10, with the random drawing for the winner of the Ford Edge to follow.

Groups interested in participating in the raffle should contact MacIntyre at (406) 495-7312.

Student Assistance Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit Montana corporation that provides students with knowledge and tools to finance and pursue their postsecondary education. Funds generated by SAF are returned to Montanans in the form of education grants and public benefit programs – to date more than $10 million. For more information, visit http://www.safmt.org.
