Bresnan putting Wi-Fi access in downtown Billings, Montana

Billings residents soon may be able to access wireless Internet throughout much of downtown, according to Bresnan Communications’ http://www.bresnan.com/ local management.

"Many metropolitans around the United States have launched these networks," he said. "We consider ourselves part of the economic development community. … We wanted to keep with our mission of bringing the most advanced technology to Montana."

Bresnan is installing 32 Wi-Fi radios downtown to provide an outdoor wireless connection in the area north of Montana Avenue between North 24th Street and North 32nd Street to Montana State University Billings, said Sean O’Donnell, Bresnan’s vice president of operations for Montana. The radios are mounted on power poles, buildings and existing network infrastructure.
