Free polymers and plastics manufacturing information session in Bozeman on August 27

The Montana Manufacturing Extension Center is hosting a free Polymers Center of Excellence information session on Monday, August 27, from 10 a.m. to noon at the MMEC Conference Room, 2310 University Way, Building 2, in Bozeman. The facility is located south of campus between the Montana State University Stadium and Museum of the Rockies. Parking is free.

Dennis Hayford, director of the Polymers Center of Excellence in Charlotte, N.C., will present a short overview of the center’s plastics and polymer capabilities, latest technologies, workforce training opportunities and project successes. Polymer Center assistance includes design and testing, manufacturing trial runs, and workforce training. The session is open to all interested parties, including manufacturers. A question-and-answer period will follow.

The Polymers Center of Excellence is a not-for-profit organization located at University Research Park in Charlotte and has a full-time staff of 13, plus five part-time staff and student assistants. It is backed by an extensive network of industry lecturers, consultants, and faculty members from North Carolina institutions of higher learning. Modern, well-equipped molding, extrusion, and test laboratories made possible by the generous support of the industry are available to serve client companies and supports workforce development activities.

Hayford will also visit several manufacturing firms in the Gallatin Valley on Monday afternoon, Aug. 27, and in Missoula on August 28. For more information, contact Mark Shyne, MMEC (406) 994-3813.
