Qwest Supports Montana Media Arts with $10,000 Grant

The Qwest Foundation http://www.qwest.com/about/company/community/foundation/ today announced a grant of $10,000 to Montana Media Arts in the Public Schools (MAPS) http://www.mediarts.org/ . MAPS works to develop a student’s creative voice through classroom activities and independent study.

"We are pleased to support MAPS’ initiatives for a second year," said David Gibson, Qwest president for Montana. "Qwest is committed to education in Montana, and this organization gives us a unique opportunity to make a difference in the lives of students interested in learning about communications technology."

"We are grateful for Qwest’s contributions to our organization," said Peter Rosten, president, MAPS. "Thanks to Qwest, not only will our program provide a unique classroom experience, but our ‘outside the classroom’ focus this year will be a key component to the enrichment of our students."

MAPS and the Montana Alliance of Boys and Girls Clubs have created a partnership whereby MAPS will host after-school programs at various Boys and Girls clubs around the state. Qwest’s generous contribution will be used to help fund the programs. The first five locations for after school programs are planned for Missoula, Bozeman, Kalispell, Wolf Point and Red Lodge.
