New Montana World Trade Center Program Offers Tools, Resources for Global Trade Success

NEW PROGRAM OFFERS TOOLS, RESOURCES FOR GLOBAL TRADE

MISSOULA —

Almost 20 percent of Montana jobs – more than 100,000 – are a result of global business, with more to come.

In efforts to foster global business, the Montana World Trade Center at The University of Montana http://www.mwtc.org and the Governor’s Office of Economic Development now offer the Global Trade Certificate Program.

The innovative program aims to provide businesses and professionals with the tools and resources needed to build a foundation that can support global opportunities and growth.

The program includes information on trends in today’s global economy, market entry strategies, financing mechanisms and resources, trademark and intellectual property protection tools, and much more.

It is designed to help CEOs, vice presidents, accountants, controllers, lawyers, economic development personnel, bank representatives and others who work with businesses and organizations looking to establish or expand participation in global markets.

Businesses and individuals completing the full program will be listed in a state directory sponsored by the Governor’s Office of Economic Development.

Professionals can receive 40 hours of Continuing Education Credit upon completion of the program or prorated hours for individual sessions completed. The Montana State Bar Association also has approval pending for Continuing Legal Education credits.

The program includes three segments:

* Who, Why and When: Globalization and the Local Economy and Evaluation of Global Potential, Keys to Market Entry, Financing Tools and Resources – 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, and 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14, in Bozeman.

* How to Develop a Global Strategy: Keys to Managing Global Markets, Marketing, Logistics and Distribution – 8:30-5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, and 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19, in Missoula.

*
Putting it all Together: Global Transactions and Communication. Breakout sessions for economic and business development; financing, banking and money; and trade law and politics – 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, and 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, in Butte.

Cost of the entire program is $950. MWTC members may attend for $795. Individual segments cost $325. MWTC members pay $295. Discounts and scholarships are available to qualifying individuals.
