Bike Commuter Act — Montana support needed

Here’s a chance to do something simple and effective to boost cycling, reduce traffic, and help local businesses that want to help their employees cyclie to work.

Ask Senators Tester and Baucus today to co-sponsor the bipartisan Bicycle Commuter Act. On Wednesday, Congressman Denny Rehberg announced that he is cosponsoring the House version of the legislation (http://www.house.gov/apps/list/press/mt00_rehberg/060507_BikeBill.html).

Please contact Senators Baucus and Tester by email or phone and ask them to support S. 858, sponsored by Senators Ron Wyden (D-OR) and Susan Collins (R-ME), which will extend the federal fringe benefit — to bicyclists — that employers can already offer employees who use transit or van pools. The bill will help create more commuter choice, reduce our country’s oil dependence, clear the air, and encourage a more healthful form of transportation.
