In Butte, Montana, Federal Reserve Chairman, Ben Bernanke calls for end to isolationism

The world economy will continue to globalize and putting up trade barriers or seeking isolationism means only that the United States will lose opportunities, Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke said here Tuesday.

"If we resist protectionism and isolationism while working to increase the skills and adaptability of our labor force, the forces of globalization and trade will continue to make our economy stronger and our citizens more prosperous," Bernanke told about 2,000 people gathered for the 2007 Montana Economic Development Summit.
