Missoula City Club – Mayoy John Engen: city can handle potholes and global warming

Missoula Mayor John Engen Friday justified his activity in the climate change area at the monthly City Club Missoula luncheon.

Missoula Mayor John Engen opened his presentation to City Club Missoula Friday by reading an e-mail from a citizen concerned about his priorities.

“Traffic is terrible,” one of Engen’s many bosses wrote. “We have kids who are on meth. You need to build a new jail. West Broadway is a mess. And now you’re going to solve global warming.

“Who’s going to handle the little stuff?”

Engen got the drift of the message. There’s plenty for the mayor of Missoula to do. But he said he also sees himself as an “in addition to” mayor rather than an “instead of” mayor.
