Real magic: University of Montana "Circus of Science" allows kids to enter world of science

Put science in the hands of children, and be prepared to stand back.

As proved Sunday, imaginations will run wild.

Hundreds of children at the inaugural Circus of Science in the University of Montana’s University Center brought simple laboratory lessons to life during an afternoon extravaganza filled with such intrigues as gravity, conductivity and mysterious potions that turned clear liquid black and caused flames to sparkle.

Science could not be stopped, and neither could the children’s enthusiasm.

“Our aim is to get the children in Missoula involved with science – but also the greater community, region and state involved,” Thompson said, “and eventually become part of a national network of children’s science museums.”
