Ski Movie Music.com is the holy grail of ski movie soundtracks

Skiers have a problem they run into every year, and until now, there hasn’t been an easy solution. The soundtracks from ski movies that every year create large cult followings in the ski crowd, haven’t been easily found or downloaded. Sure, there are a few soundtracks on a few different websites in the far corners of the interweb, but never a complete list that makes getting the soundtrack easy.

After watching this year’s Matchstick ski movie PUSH at the Wilma and hearing new music from bands I never knew existed, I knew I had to have the soundtrack. After hours of fruitless searching, it became apparent that it was time to solve this problem, not only for me but for the skiing community.

Hundreds of hours of work later, labor made easier by new good music, I am sharing my ever-growing project with the world.

Ski Movie Music.com http://skimoviemusic.com/ so far lists nearly 30 films with their soundtracks, ranging back to 1998. Each movie includes a list of the songs that helped make that movie so memorable. These songs, as well as their artists, are linked to the iTunes music store, making downloading a breeze — and legal. The songs’ albums are linked to Amazon.com, allowing one to own a hardcopy of the new favorite music with just a few clicks.

The goal for the project is to include as many ski movies and their soundtracks as possible. The goal is also to be accurate, so in the world of Web 2.0 and Wikis, we gladly accept segment and music corrections and contributions of new soundtrack lists. So far, the help has been overwhelming and the support astonishing.

If you’re in need of a new song to make the chair ride a little shorter or want to make McConkey’s theme song yours, then head on over to SkiMovieMusic.com and check it out. Chances are you will come away with some great new music to make this winter’s turns that much better.
