Soaring in the gorge – Insitu of Bingen, Washington

Underwood resident Tad McGeer founded the privately held Insitu http://www.insitu.com/ in 1994 to build one product: an unmanned plane designed to gather data for weather and fishing fleets. Then the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks occurred, and the military soon discovered the plane called ScanEagle could be extremely useful in sending ground troops live video feeds of enemy movement or for surveillance.
