John and Jane Angel Go to Washington
November 9, 2006 /
A high-net-worth guy invests $250,000 in a startup company in 2006. He is eligible for a tax credit worth 20 percent of that investment if he lives in a) the United States; b) Britain; c) North Korea.
If you guessed b) you really know your angel investment trivia. You also probably know that angel investors in the United States could enjoy a similar tax credit by the year 2008, if certain members of the U.S. Congress can get their act together. That act is the Access to Capital for Entrepreneurs Act of 2006.
