Livingston Mercantile begins buying clothing

Members of the Livingston Mercantile board have raised enough money to begin purchasing clothing for the store, and they hope to open around Thanksgiving or Livingston’s annual Christmas Stroll.

The Livingston Mercantile describes itself as a family clothing store selling products at retail to the general public. It plans to sell men’s, women’s and children’s clothing, including shoes, socks, underwear, coats and outerwear as well as accessories.

The Mercantile is located in the historic building at 120 S. Main St., owned by Joe Swindlehurst and his sisters Bev Harris and Jean Sandberg.

There are 13 other mercantiles, or similar stores, in three different states, Walker said.

For a prospectus and information about purchasing stock, call Doug Truex (222-2288), Dave Viers (222-7722), Bob Ebinger (222-0438), Sharon Walker (222-0773) or Victor Robbins (222-2950).
