International office products company, Masters Group International looks to build distribution center in Butte

An international office products company is tapping Butte for a major distribution center.

Masters Group International — which makes everything from briefcases to pens — wants to locate in the county tax increment finance district, or TIFID, at Silver Bow, said Curtis Howell, president of the Delaware company.

Officials worked long and hard to get business

“I can’t overemphasize the support we’ve gotten from local and state officials,” company president Curtis Howell said. “Gov. Schweitzer’s really set the tone to make Montana a business friendly state.” Talks between Masters Group and local officials, including chief executive Paul Babb and Jim Smitham, executive director of the Butte Local Development Corp., started in 2005.
