St. James Healthcare Foundation awarded grant to find answer to nurse shortage

The St. James Healthcare Foundation has secured a two-year, $246,518 grant to help find solutions to America’s nursing shortage.

The foundation was one of 10 nationwide to receive grants from Partners Investing in Nursing’s Future. The money will be used for participation in a national initiative designed to develop and test solutions to the nursing shortage.

“This is a great thing for us, and we’re really excited about it,” Kevin Dennehy, the foundation’s executive director, said Tuesday. The national initiative, led by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the Northwest Health Foundation, encourages other foundations to act as catalysts in developing strategies to address a looming healthcare provider shortage.
