Montana Department of Transportation First State Agency to Provide Online Job Application Process

Those interested in applying for a job at the Montana Department of
Transportation will find it simpler than ever because MDT now has an
online application process. The electronic application, made available
last week as part of MDT’s new employment website at
http://www.mdt.mt.gov/jobs, is the first of its kind for state agencies.

"We wanted to provide people the opportunity and flexibility to apply
for positions at MDT in as simple a fashion as possible," said Jennifer
Jensen from MDT Human Resources. "The new application and other
employment tools on the web site will streamline the process for those
interested in working for MDT."

The web site also provides tips for preparing for interviews and other
opportunities MDT offers. Applying online is immediate, efficient, and
provides an effective alternative to the traditional paper application
process.

"We look at it as just the tip of the iceberg for us in addressing our
workforce planning. It’s critical to get the right people in the right
jobs at the right time and this is a tool to efficiently do just that,"
said Jensen.

MDT’s mission is to serve the public by providing a transportation
system and services that emphasize quality, safety, cost effectiveness,
economic vitality and sensitivity to the environment. MDT employs some
2,000 people across the state in positions that range from engineers and
GIS technicians to budget analysts, economists and biologists.
