Montana DEQ testing electronics recycling program. Helena holds recycling event this weekend.

So you’ve got an old 300-MHz computer sporting a Pentium II processor. That bulky ancient monitor is still sitting in the corner, right behind your new high-definition, flat-panel screen.

Electronics grow old, proof that technology is trying hard to leave you behind. What are you supposed to do with all those old components, short of opening the world’s dullest museum or tossing them in the garbage?

This weekend, consumers will have a new option, thanks to an experimental effort by the Montana Department of Environmental Quality. The state agency is testing the waters for a Montana-wide electronics recycling program and, so far, the interest has been high.
