Small technology businesses with big ideas will have a new champion in Wyoming.

A venture capital firm with roots in Wyoming is opening a Laramie office and hopes to invest in companies that have "big ideas that solve big problems," said Brian Wallace, a managing director of the company, Access Venture Partners http://www.accessventurepartners.com/ .

Venture capital investing is old news in technology hot spots like Austin, Texas and California’s Silicon Valley, but it’s new here.

"Nobody else is doing this up here," said Jim Porter, chairman of the board of the Casper Area Economic Development Alliance.

"That’s one thing that has been a missing link in the past," he said.
