Grand Canyon University creates eMBA program focused on leadership that was crafted with input from national business experts.

Grand Canyon University will launch an executive MBA program focused on leadership that was crafted with input from national business experts, including a best-selling author and the president of Southwest Airlines. The program will begin in January.

The school teamed up with author/entrepreneur Ken Blanchard, who co-wrote The One-Minute Manager, to develop the new 12-month program to train future leaders. The eMBA, which will be taught mostly online, is largely based on Blanchard’s book Leading at a Higher Level, which comes out in October and deals with one-on-one, team and organizational leadership styles.

Grand Canyon also is getting input from Southwest’s Colleen Barrett, who will lead some face-to-face sessions, and other executives on the college’s advisory board, including Thomas Gilman, a 27-year veteran of DaimlerChrysler, and Eric Pillmore, a senior vice president at Tyco International.
