Biodiesel debut: New bus fleet hits streets of Missoula, Montana

Frequent bus rider Elaine Miller has strong feelings about the importance of public transportation and, in fact, has become an advocate of sorts for Missoula’s mass-transit system.

On Tuesday morning, she joined a group of like-minded people, including Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont., and Missoula Mayor John Engen, to witness the launching of Mountain Line’s new fleet of biodiesel buses.

Miller began using the local bus system after a stroke left her partially paralyzed and unable to drive. Now she takes the bus to the grocery store, to doctor’s appointments – pretty much everywhere, she explained as she stepped off a new bus following its inaugural voyage.
