UM, Vote Smart discuss partnership

A midweek meeting between the University of Montana, the Philipsburg-based Project Vote Smart http://www.vote-smart.org/ and the governor’s office http://bizmt.com/ has engendered good will among all and resulted in a commitment to work together.

Whatever bad feelings, rumors and misunderstandings that existed between the parties earlier in the summer have been dismissed, thanks to a meeting pulled together by the governor’s office and UM.

The day’s discussions, which were held at Project Vote Smart’s headquarters, focused on the topics of partnership, student internships and future plans for the nonprofit voter education group.

“We had a very productive and useful meeting,” said Evan Barrett, economic development officer under Gov. Brian Schweitzer.
