Great Falls, Montana looks at offering wireless Internet

Klane King tapped on his laptop keyboard on a summer afternoon on the second floor of the Great Falls Public Library.

One of the attractions at the library is free wireless Internet service, available since November 2004.

"I kind of just found out about it a few weeks ago," King, 53, said. "It’s really convenient."

In Great Falls, free wireless Internet service, known as Wi-Fi, can be found at the library, the airport, the Cool Beans Coffee Pub downtown and a few other spots. But municipal Wi-Fi is hot, with scattered cities across the country offering citywide Wi-Fi, sometimes at reduced rates. Other cities offer free Wi-Fi zones.
