Education corridor moves forward

A higher education corridor in Coeur d’Alene is moving well beyond the "what if" stage, and the price tag for a key piece of land is $10 million.

Tony Berns, executive director of the Lake City Development Corp., the city’s urban redevelopment agency, said developer Marshall Chesrown has agreed to sell the Stimson Lumber Company’s DeArmond Mill to an amalgamation of government and educational entities.

"Marshall has been extremely gracious to work with because he really stepped up," Berns said Wednesday. "The mill is the main key to the education corridor, and Marshall has the assets and leverage to get this thing moving."
