Bitterroot Resort officials update county commissioners
Vested parties of the Bitterroot Resort updated Ravalli County commissioners Monday on their plans to move forward with development.
Despite the denial from both the Lolo and Bitterroot national forests for a special-use permit, the resort near Lolo is in the planning stages of development.
“There will be a Bitterroot Resort,” Jim Gill, chief operating officer for the resort said. “The question is if it will be a private or public resort.”
The proposed “world class all-season destination resort” will encompass 2,960 acres extending from the valley floor up to 6,000 feet in elevation. The resort, 10 miles from Missoula, will encompass 200 acres of skiable terrain, miles of Nordic trails, three golf courses and mountain bike trails.
Within the proposed resort, there would be up to 2,200 homes built during the first 10 years, with more to follow, according to Gill.
