Montana Lawmakers question NASA grant spending for INSA

University of Montana officials did their best Tuesday to explain to state legislators how they spent $3.3 million in NASA funding for space research and education, and why they needed to start a private spinoff company with the money.
But at the end of the Legislative Audit Committee meeting, neither UM officials nor auditors had all the answers.
“It seems to me taxpayer money has been frittered away,” said state Rep. Joe Balyeat, R-Bozeman, during the meeting.
