Trapper Creek Winery receives state ag grant for advertising and promotion.

Montana is known for its open spaces and beautiful country, but little do people know that Montana is becoming recognized for its fine wines.

Thanks to a grant program run by the Montana Department of Agriculture, Hamilton’s Trapper Creek Winery received an $18,600 grant for advertising and promotion.

For more than 30 years Ken Schultz has been perfecting the art of making wine. He was part owner of Painted Rocks Winery until it was sold in 2003 and is now opening a new winery in Hamilton. The Growth Through Agricultural grant helped Schultz start his business.

“The program funds money for economic businesses to help with advertising and promotion of agricultural-related business,” Justin Hager, program manager for the GTA, said.
