Would you like to have your Montana product prominently displayed in an upcoming movie?

Montana Companies for product placement

Hello all,

Recently, the film office has been working with Fairplay Pictures to bring the production of "A Plumm Summer" to the Bozeman and Livingston areas to film this summer.

A synopsis of the film is below. This is a project that we have been working with for a while. They have found all the locations they need in Montana, and they have expressed their sincere desire to bring the film to Montana, IF Montana could bridge the gap between South Carolina’s incentive and Montana’s incentive. Governor Schweitzer met with them on Monday, and pledged that Montana would everything it could to close the deal. I have been working to put together many things that will help to close that gap, as have the local governments affected.

One of the ways that Montana could possibly compete, is through product placement. The producers have sent me a list of items that appear in their film, and asked if any Montana businesses would be interested in paying a product placement fee to have their products appear in their film. I have attached that list for your review.

I met with Director Preite and Marty Tuttle earlier today to discuss what else Montana could do. Director Preite suggested that I have you all look at this list of possible product placement opportunities and assist with providing a list of companies or individuals that may have the potential to use this film as a promotional opportunity. They are casting fairly big names in the film, so there is a potential for the products to be seen by millions if the film does really well, however the down side is that there is no way to tell how widely viewed the film will eventually be. One other issue is that the film is set in 1966, so the products would have to play to the period.

If you have any appropriate contacts please let me know. Also, please forward to anyone else in Commerce that could be of assistance as well. I will compile the list for the producers, and see where we need to take it from there. They would not expect us to make sort of deals on their behalf, but in many cases introductory phone calls may be helpful. Thank you all very much, and please call me at 841-2879 if you have any questions or if I can explain in further detail.

Sincerely,

Sten Iversen

A Plumm Summer

Based on a true story

David Brinkley, on the Huntley-Brinkley Report in 1966: “Just as coast-to-coast networks threaten to make local children’s programming a thing of the past, we get this report from Billings, Montana. Froggy Doo has been kidnapped. That’s right folks, Froggy Doo, local TV legend and certified puppet, disappeared during a live show in front of hundreds of young fans. And if that’s not strange enough, J. Edgar Hoover himself has sent two agents to Montana to investigate the disappearance of Billing’s favorite frog. I kid you not”.
______________________________

Froggy Doo, the wisecracking marionette operated and voiced by Happy Herb, is loved by all the kids – all the kids except young Elliott. Elliott (12) has outgrown the show and no longer believes in Froggy Doo; in fact, he doesn’t believe in much of anything anymore, least of all himself, which causes a considerable amount of tension between him and his six year-old brother Rocky, who believes in everything – especially Froggy Doo.

What’s real for Elliott is the anxiety he feels at home. His father, Mick, an ex-boxer, treats his oldest son as though he’s invisible, and secretly blames the boy for his not going to the Olympics twelve years ago. His mother, Roxie, loves him dearly, but is so busy trying to keep the bills paid, her husband sober, and her marriage together that she doesn’t have much time left for her firstborn son.

Initially, Elliott has no interest in the Frog-napping, but when a Houseboat floats down the river carrying young Ariel, (a new neighbor, junior sleuth, and Trixie Belden fan), everything changes. Soon, Elliott, Ariel, and Rocky band together and embark on a mission to find Froggy Doo. And what starts out as a lark for Elliott becomes increasingly essential as the stakes for him rise dramatically: If he can crack the case before the FBI does, he could win the heart of the girl he’s falling for, bond with his little brother, give his mother the reward money (saving the family home), and maybe, just maybe… earn his father’s love.

But the journey is never what we expect, and by the end of the road, everyone has learned a lot more than just who kidnapped Froggy Doo.
