Pennsylvania Governor Edward G. Rendell Supports School Laptop Program. Laptop computers should be on the desks of every high school student

Pennsylvania Gov. Edward G. Rendell recently said the Easton School District’s Shawnee Success Academy is the perfect example of why laptop computers should be on the desks of every high school student — and why the General Assembly should pass his $200 million Classrooms for the Future initiative.

According to a state press release, a program called Classrooms for the Future would transform teaching and learning by equipping every high school classroom in the core subjects — English, math, science and social studies — with laptops and other multimedia technology. Governor Rendell’s proposed 2006-07 budget includes $20 million to reach up to 100 high schools in the program’s initial year.
