Business folks work to revitalize Choteau, Fairfield and Augusta downtowns

Three leaders in three towns, Choteau, Fairfield and Augusta, may have different priorities for their communities, but they share a desire to create places where businesses thrive and visitors are welcome.

Their locations and size have shaped their retail businesses and the type of local and tourist traffic they get. Choteau, population, 1,776, is a government center that straddles U.S. Highway 89, a major route to Glacier National Park. Fairfield, population, 652, is only a half-hour’s drive from Great Falls and its big box stores. Augusta, population, 284, is a tourist destination that draws people from around the world to its rodeo and the area dude ranches.
